Our Community Quilt Is Complete!

On Saturday, August 3, 2019, guests gathered on Legends Plaza at the Detroit Historical Museum to see the finished Four Freedoms Quilt, that combined squares collected from the community that speak to the question “what does freedom mean in Detroit?” The event was part of ARISE Detroit’s 2019 Neighborhoods Day, which the Detroit Historical Society has participated in annually since 2016.

Huge thanks to the Great Lakes African American Quilters’ Network for assembling the community quilt. See more pictures from the day on our facebook page.
