One black and white photograph of the Flynn Memorial Pavilion under construction on Belle Isle in Detroit. The view looks eastward across the construction site and shows a grass area and several piles of debris in the lower foreground. New exterior walls of natural fieldstone can be seen in the background along with steel and wood framing for the building. Temporary wood bracing can be seen along the south side of the new building in the center area of the photo. Beyond the bracing, the old Belle Isle Pavilion is partially visible with the edge of Lake Tacoma to the right. A small title block in the lower right corner has printed text that reads " City of Detroit, Contract No. PR-63, Flynn Memorial, Emil Van Sile Co., East from SW [Southwest] Corner Bldg., Photo No. 9, Date: 8-12-49, Lens-Art Photographers." The photo is mounted on white canvas and includes a canvas strip along the left edge to allow for placement in a binder or album.
