Quad anniversary celebration
This year marks a rare convergence of milestones that together tell a deeper story about Detroit’s past and present. We are commemorating 325 years since the arrival of the city’s first European settlers, a moment that shaped Detroit’s earliest identity and its role in the broader history of North America. At the same time, the nation marks 250 years since the founding of the United States, offering an opportunity to reflect on Detroit’s unique place within that national narrative—from frontier outpost to industrial powerhouse to a city continually redefining itself.
