Black and white aerial photograph cut from a proof sheet taken of downtown from a point roughly above Cass Avenue and I-75 facing southeast. The Book Tower is just to the right of the center of the frame. Around it are the Grand Army of the Republic Building, the Leland Hotel, the Michigan Bell Building, the Kales Building, the Fyfe Building, the David Broderick Tower, the David Whitney Building, Hudson's, the David Stott Building, the First Federal Building, National Bank of Detroit Building, the Penobscot, the Guardian Building, Cobo Hall and Cobo Arena. The wing of the photographer's plane is captured at the top left corner of the image. "City of Detroit, Report & Information, 72101, Photographic," was stamped on the verso of the proof sheet, however the final digit was hand-corrected to "2."
