Print, Photographic

One black and white photograph of the work operations for laying an underwater telephone cable across the Trenton Channel of the lower Detroit River. Five Michigan Bell Telephone company engineers (wearing hardhats) are standing near the Grosse Ile shoreline in the lower foreground. Three workmen are standing or seated on the shoreline in front of them. A sign and guy wires can be seen at the left side of the photo. A Dunbar & Sullivan Dredging Company barge with a cable reel and crane can be seen on the river in the center area of the photo as well as the bow of the tugboat, Paddy Miles. The hazy outline of the Trenton shoreline is faintly visible in the far background.
