Black and white photograph (and 2 copies) overlooking Capitol Park from the Detroit Savings Bank Building. The photo was taken prior to the relocation of the Governor Stevens T. Mason grave and monument. Fences around the grave have been taken down, and two stake trucks, one loaded with stanchions, are parked in the park. Shelters for passengers waiting for the Grand River electric trolley-buses, and the Fenkell and Linwood bus lines run along Shelby Street and Griswold Street. Marks Furs, Lewis Star Credit Clothes, La Lanterra, the National Optical Stores Company, Weil and Company, the Blue Nite Bar, Lestra, Beneficial Financial Company, Castle Company, Colonnade, Maculey's Enna Jettick, Barton's, and the National Finance Company are all visible along Shelby Street. The Governor's monument was relocated to a new location in Capitol Park and his casket was reburied there on December 5, 1955.
