"Currents in Color" by Brontae Williamson
Announcing our mural selection!
Brontae Williamson is a multi-disciplinary designer with a product design degree from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Her piece reflects the diversity of both the people and the natural world in Detroit, and the profound love that Detroiters hold for the beauty of the city. Her original design will become a lasting mural on the west facing wall of the Dossin Great Lakes Museum.
"Currents in Color" will be translated into a 32 x 8-foot horizontal mural comprised of sixteen 4-foot square paint-by-number style panels that will be painted by the community over the summer and then assembled and hung on the building. This mural will showcase the artistic voice and talent of Detroit’s art community, our maritime history, and the history of our region as well as pay homage to the innovative spirit of Paint-by-Number, which was developed and started in Metro Detroit.

April 20: Call for submissions opens
June 1: Call for submissions concludes, submissions are due
June 27: Winning artwork is selected and announced
September 14-18: Paint-by-Number mural is finished and installed
