One tintype photograph containing a hand-tinted three-quarters view of young man in Civil War uniform (dark jacket and hat, gray pants), with his hands crossed in his lap. The stripes on his uniform are tinted read and his buttons are gold. Faintly scratched on verso is "Private Richard Shouger 4th (Captain Woodburys) battery New Jersey Light Artillery."
