Display panel concerning City Hall's clock, upon which two sepia-toned photographs have been pasted. The panel details the mechanisms of the clockwork, which was built by William A. Hendrie of Chicago in 1871 at a cost of $2850. The photograph at the lower right shows the sundial which was set up on the roof of the building, and was used as a source of true loal time to set the clock by until 1882. The photo on the lower right shows a man winding the clock by climbing a circular treadmill prior to 1884, when steam and electric power was employed instead.
