Print, Photographic
Black and white photographic print of the Collector's Corner Exhibit which features the "Black Doll Exhibit," displayed inside the Detroit Historical Museum, May - August, 1974. Signage affixed to the rear of the display reads, "Probably the most unique dolls in the Sugar 'N Spice Doll Museum, are these papier-mâché masterpieces. Mrs. Perkins is especially proud of these dolls made by Leo Moss of Macon, Georgia. Mr. Moss was a former slave who made dolls representing his relatives or friends. His character dolls have happy or sad faces,, but all reflect the doll artist's sensitivity to his subject and his command of his medium. Only thirty-two dolls made my Moss are known to exist today and Sugar 'N Spice Doll Museum has nine of these. Below are a smiling lady; the baby, Mina; and a little girl with a real hair wig."
