Photograph. Black and white aerial photo showing the Detroit Edison Marysville electric power plant. The view shows residential streets and houses in the foreground as well as a playfield, the power plant building, and adjacent coal piles. Two derricks and derrick-houses can be seen on the left side of the photo and two more can be seen on opposite sides of the playfield. (These derricks may have been used by one of the local salt companies to drill brine wells for the manufacture of salt. After drilling, the liquid brine was pumped to the surface for processing which included evaporation of the liquid in order to produce salt.) The St. Clair River is visible across the center of the photo with the Canadian shoreline in the background.
