Photograph (and 1 copy). Black and white photo showing linemen of the Detroit Edison Company. The view shows seven linemen who are posed adjacent to a company maintenance truck that is parked on a residential street. A utility pole and a 1-story wood frame and brick house can be seen in the background. The number, "73791-1," is printed in the lower right corner of the photo. The names of the workmen are shown on an accompanying note as follows: left to right (on utility pole): Gerald Wyckoff, Theodore Seinko; left to right (front): Ray Smith, Joseph Bolton, Melvin Budd, Darrell Lucas, Joseph Matthews. Two other accompanying notes show "THERE'S THE POWER OF A HUNDRED HORSES under the blunt hood of this up-to-the-minute Detroit Edison maintenance truck. Driver and crew ride in comfort in all weathers, and are in constant touch via two-way shortwave radio with a central dispatcher who can direct them to scenes of storm damage and other electrical trouble. But despite the modern conveniences, the line crewman's job is still rugged, especially in the winter. Public Information Division, The Detroit Edison Company, 1/20/53." and "Note: Gerald Wyckoff, one of the linemen in this picture, died 10/16/56 as a result of injuries suffered in an OHL [overhead line] accident 9/5/56."
