Black and white photograph of radio personality Dick Purtan posed with his arms crossed in Hart Plaza with the Renaissance Center standing in the background. He wears a CKLW Radio jacket over a sweater. A press release pasted to the verso reads:

Helping Detroit Come Alive Again -- Just as the Renaissance Center (background) is bringing new life and activity to downtown Detroit, Dick Purtan is bringing new vitality to the Motor City's radio scene. On Wednesday, Nov. 1, Purtan takes over as the morning drive-time host on CKLW Radio, a 50,000-watt station beamed at metropolitan Detroit. Purtan has been the Motor City's favorite funny man for a long time at his former 5,000-watt station. His move to CKLW means that thousands more listeners will be tuning in and turning on to Purtan from 6 to 10 a.m., Monday through Saturday, said Herbert McCord, president of CKLW. Making the move to CKLW with Purtan is his old sidekick, the zany Tom Ryan, who will be executive producer of the show. Ryan also will continue to provice a long list of vocal characters to futher spice up the Purtan Show.
