Print, Photographic

Sepia-toned photo of Gar Wood seated on the hull of one of the boats manufactured by Gar Wood Incorporated. Another man, clad in a coat, cap, and gloves stands beside him. "6-11" is printed in the lower left corner of the photo. A typewritten caption pasted on the verso on Advertisers Incorporated stationery reads:

Commodore Gar Wood Testing the Riding Qualities of the New Cruiser
When the hull of the new forty foot commuting cruising, which is now a part of the regular line of motor boats manufactured by Gar Wood Incorporated, was launched and given its trial test on the St. Clair River at Marysville, Michigan Commodore Wood put the boat through every know test. Here he is observing the riding qualities which he did from every part of the cruiser after he had put her through her paces as chief test pilot.
