Print, Photographic

Sepia-toned photo of the exterior of the Comique Theatre as taken from across Broadway Street, facing southwest. A Service Sign Company billboard which reads, "We Build Homes, Stores, Apartment Buildings on easy terms. Your Lot as First Payment. Henry S. Koppin Co. Breitmeyer Building. Detroit 2,000,000 in 1930." is posted above the theatre's marquee. "The Prisoner of Zenda," is posted on the marquee, as well as on several signs around the entranceway. Several people in winter wear are visible in front of the theater--a woman enters a door, a man stands at the curb, another examines a poster outside of the theatre, and a fourth figure leaves only a blur near the ticket booth. Signs on the facade of the Comique Theatre declare, "Best Show in Town for the Money," and "Always Bigger and better Show. Siebler Brothers Tailors is visible on the left side of the theatre, and the Broadway Fruit Store, and a clothing store are on the right. An early car is parked on the street in front of the fruit store. "1314-28," is printed in the lower left corner of the photo, and "Service Sign Co., Detroit Mich." at the lower right. The photo is mounted to a linen backing with "(1247-1255 Broadway bet. Randolph & Gratiot, 1920s)" handwritten, and a stamp for the Commercial Photo Service Company stamped on the verso.
