Photograph. Black and white aerial photo of I-75 (US-23) and the Zilwaukee Bridge crossing of the Saginaw River. The view shows the four-lane double leaf bascule bridge in an open position while a Huron Cement freighter passes beneath it. Long lines of cars are stopped on the highway in both directions while waiting for the bridge spans to be lowered back into a level position. Farm fields can be seen on both sides of the highway in the background. A black ink stamp with handwritten text on the verso shows "Photograph by Michigan State Highway Department, File No. 4732A, 8-20-67." Additional handwritten text shows "1940 Hours. Approximately 15 minutes after opening bridge. Both north and south bound traffic tied up. South bound backed up approximately 3 miles. Looking northeast."
