Black and white photographic print depicting an M-3 Lee tank leaving a garage door at Chrysler Tank Arsenal factory in Warren.
Caption reads: Here, leaving the Chrysler Tank Arsenal for the first time, is number one of the great fleet of monster M-3 medium 28-ton tanks which the Corporation has been commissioned to make for the U. S. Army. Finished on April 12th, this "pilot" tank, fully equipped for combat, was delivered to Major General Charles M. Wesson, U. S. Army Chief of Ordnance, on April 24, 1941 - the first delivery to the Army by American Industry of this type of tank. As a token of their interest in the national defense program, the dealers and distributors of the Chrysler Sales Division of Chrysler Corporation purchased this first tank from the Corporation and presented it as a gift to the U. S. Army.
Before the year ends hundreds more like this one should be coming out of this plant to strengthen America's mechanized forces. The most powerful weapon of its type in the world - literally a rolling fortress - this tank has amazing maneuverability, tremendous striking force, and most devastating firing power.
