Black and white print and print negative depicting the base of a moonlight tower installed on an island in the middle of Washington Boulevard north of Michigan Avenue. The fountain is positioned behind the tower. On the east side of Washington are the Cadillac Hotel, the headquarters for the Edison Illuminating Company of Detroit, and Dr. Miller's Utopia Dental Parlors. The Washington Inn is on the west side of the street. To the northwest is a sign atop a building reading, "Johnson Optical Co." Pedestrians, horse-drawn carriages, and several early automobiles are in the street. "C.1900 handwritten on verso."
