Sepia-toned group portrait of (lower row, left to right) steam engineer Mike Stadler, Tony Gustomski, Ed Bloom, retired chief Edwin J. Hess, Timothy Tews, (upper row, left to right) F. Malecek, Schwartz, Anthony Kort (the first motor pumping engineer in the Detroit Fire Department), Captain Thomas Noyes, and John Edward Quirk, posed in and around a Seagraves pumper engine, which was put into service with the Detroit Fire Department in January 5, 1916. A number "1" is painted on the side of the engine. A brick fire station with a stone foundation, and two sets of large bay doors is in the background.
