Print, Photographic

Black and white photographic print mounted on fabric depicting the inside of the Dressler Kiln at the Champion Porcelain Co.
Caption on verso reads: Dressler Kiln after shut-down in August 1927, after 21 months' continuous oil firing.
View of the last four southern sections of the carborundum chambers, east side. Approximate temperature 2450 F. Note that the carborundum-clay mortar mix has oxidized. This was originally covered with glaze, but the glaze did not melt sufficiently to make an air tight protection as it did in the hotter parts of the kiln.
