Print. Sepia-toned photographic print of an interior view of the Modern Room, located inside The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Upholstered arm chairs are arranged around the pilasters, and two differing styles of ladies suiting are visible in recessed displays in the far left and right corners. Two female mannequins are visible atop the rear raised platform, and each is adorned in floor-length evening gowns. A typed notation affixed to the verso of the image reads, "J.L. Hudson Co., sixth floor - Modern Room for style and exclusive garments, facing stage (has also been referred to as French Room.)" The photographer's name, and address are also stamped on the verso, "Davis B. Hillmer Photographer of Architecture, 454 Colburn Place, West of 5800 Cass, Detroit, -- Michigan."
