Print. Black and white photographic print of an interior display of bicycles at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Historic bicycles are featured in the foreground and are accompanied by modern bicycles which are available for purchase. Many of the historic bikes feature signage in front of them noting the type and year it was made. The High Wheel Bicycle in the center background features a sign which reads, "C. and J. Grasshopper," visible in the left foreground is an, "Old Hickory bicycle, Built by Sterling Elliot Company, Worchester, Mass., 1895. Courtesy of Arnold Schwinn, and Co. Incorporated." Right of the Old Hickory is a, "Phoenix built bicycle, built by Stover Manufacturing Company, Rockford, Illinois, In 1895." A large wheeled tricycle in the featured in the right foreground is a, "Velocipede, Designed by Pierre Gendron, 1872, Courtesy of American National Company." Also visible on the right side of the display is a, "Doll Carriage, Made About 1890, F.A. Whitney Co." The perimeter of the department is ornamented with nursery rhyme themed characters. The photographic sequence number is printed on the bottom of the recto, "17860."
