Print. Black and white photographic print of an interior view of the Winter Sports Shop within the Sporting Goods Department at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Sporting equipment is visible throughout the department and includes toboggans, skis, snowshoes, croquet sets, firearms, and golf bags. Apparel for these types of activities is also displayed throughout and includes a series of sweaters visible in the left foreground, as well as earmuffs, fishing vests, pants, rubber boots, and tennis shoes. A display visible atop the rear retail counter features a mannequin adorned in outerwear, including ski poles, and skis, sits on a chair in front of a snow-covered mountain complete with ski lifts. Signage hangs from the ceiling and reads, "Winter Sports Shop." The date, photographic sequence number, company name, and photographer's name are printed on the bottom of the recto, "11-25-53; 25775-15x; The J.L. Hudson Company; Photography by Davis B. Hillmer." Also, an identification label affixed to the verso reads, "1953 Photo of Sports Goods Dept. Downtown Hudson's."
