One color photograph of the 1982 Detroit Grand Prix race track on the streets in downtown Detroit. The elevated view looks southwestward along a curved section of Atwater Street near Renaissance Center. Several cars can be seen on the track in the lower foreground and the right background, including Equipe Renault Elf's number 16. A disabled car, Team ATS's number 9, is being lifted off the track by a crane in the upper left corner of the photo, after having spun out on its first lap. Crowds can be seen along the riverfront and plaza areas in the background. The Detroit River, Windsor, Ontario, shoreline, and a section of the Ambassador Bridge can be seen in the far background along the upper left edge of the photo. The event took place on June 4-6, 1982.
