Print. Sepia-toned photographic print of a window display at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Male and female mannequins are dressed in travel-wear and are surrounded by differing styles of trunks and luggage. Images of the American landscape are affixed to the rear of the display, and also included is a portrait of President Abraham Lincoln arriving at a train station. Signage in the right center of the window, neighboring a landscape image reads, "Hudson's Annual Luggage Sale, Trunks, Bags, Suit Cases, Flat Boxes and all luggage carries a very unusual prices. The J.L. Hudson Co." On the left side of the central landscape image a sign reads, "Ask Mr. Foster, Travel Information Service. Will plan your trip, secure reservations, purchase your tickets, information of travel everywhere. Hudson Corridor, First Floor, Free Flyers." Hand-written on the verso, "Return to the J.L. Hudson Co. Detroit, Michigan, C.F. Wendel, Traveling Display." Also, the name of the photography studio and geographic location are stamped on the verso, "Smith Brothers, Commercial Photographers, Arcadia Bldg., Woodward & Stimson, Detroit, Mich."
