Print, Photographic

One framed sepia-toned composite photograph of two images: a horse race and a group of men who are gathered around a race horse at a track (possibly Hazel Park Raceway). The upper image shows two race horses, #1 and #2, that are running on a race track. The lower image shows a group of seven men who are standing on the track beside horse #1 and its jockey. The five men at the left are all wearing business attire. The jockey and two attendants at the right are wearing work attire. Fencing, trees, and buildings can be seen in the background. The photo is held in a white cardboard frame that has narrow black and silver lines near the inner edge. Handwritten pen text on the frame reads "Sept.- 4 - 5- [51?]; 1 Mi [Mile], T [Time]= 1-39.4," and "Slamaranth; W.M. Cook - L.G.Bidwell - Tr [Trainers]; Jerry Lynch, Inc. - Own [Owner]." A white paper label in the upper right corner has black typewritten text that reads "Left to right: Jerry Flavin, Charles Luke, Walter Flavin, Jerry Lynch, Trainer L.G. Bidwell, Samantha [Slamaranth] (Horse)." The jockey and two African-American attendants are not identified.
