Print, Photographic

One black and white photograph showing seawall construction work along the North Branch of the Chicago River near Belmont Avenue. The photo shows an area where existing steel sheeting is being removed prior to installation of a new seawall. A workman is standing on the side deck of a crane barge at the left side of the photo and a crane cable is being used to lift out old sections of steel sheeting. An earth embankment and debris are visible in the center and right areas of the photo. Typewritten labels near the lower corners read "Fitz Simons & Connell Dredge & Dock Div., Dunbar & Sullivan Dredging Co.," and "Material Service Yard No. 3, View Looking North Toward Belmont Ave., Showing Extraction of Existing Sheeting, F.C. 1268. April 12, 1971." A black ink stamp on the verso reads "Calumet Studio, Arthur P. Stalla, 768-1951, Reorder No. FC7128."
