One black and white photograph showing a new seawall under construction along the North Branch of the Chicago River near W. Division Street. The photo shows batter piles being placed for bracing along the back side of a new seawall. A crane barge and two other barges are moored alongside the shore in the construction area. The river and various industrial buildings can be seen in the background. A typewritten label near the lower right corner reads "Peoples Gaslight & Coke Co., May 28, 1969, FC 1255. View of Section II Looking East, Showing Driving of Batter Piles." A black ink stamp on the verso reads "Calumet Studio, Arthur P. Stalla, 768-1951, Reorder No. FS6943." The work was done by the Fitz Simons & Connell Dredge & Dock Division of the Dunbar & Sullivan Dredging Company.
