One black and white photograph of the Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corporation construction staging area for the Lakehead Pipeline crossing of the Straits of Mackinac. The photo shows a workman who is standing beside a section of steel pipeline that has been wrapped with long strips of wood lath. In addition, a large cylindrical float has been lashed to the top of the pipe. Racks and stacks of other floats as well as coils of rope can be seen in the background. Handwritten text along the upper right edge of the photo reads "134-7."
