Testimonial Resolution
to
Richard F. Reaume, Jr.

Whereas, Richard F. Reaume, Jr., a native of our city and a student of the Tilden School and Central High School, was born on November the 25th 1889, of a distinguished French pioneer family, and
Whereas, after serving as a journalist for some six years he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1917 to engage in active duty in hostile waters until 1919 with pre-eminent honor, and
Whereas, he left merchandising of automobiles to accept office as Secretary of the Detroit Fire Commission on October 16, 1930, and has contentiously served under the several commissioners and the various administrators since the date of his appointment, and
Whereas, he has [?] his patriotic service as a member of the Detroit Fire Department Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States as well as belonging to the John Faust Post of the American Legion, and
Whereas, he wrote the constitution of, and has been active in, [?], the Detroit Fire Department Officers' Club as well as being preeminent in the City of Detroit Employee's Fifth Wheel Club, the Dads' Club of Catholic Central High School, and the First Friday Club, and
Whereas, he has raised five splendid children, three girls and two boys, one of each being even now in military service. Mr. Reaume is to be complimented on his record as a citizen and as a public servant who will, to his own and our regret, retire from active service in the Detroit Fire Department on November the 25th, 1955.
Now, therefore be it
Resolved, that this Common Council unite with the many friends of Mr. Reaume in expressing the good wishes of the people of the City of Detroit for a long and happy [convalescence?] and a well earned respite from active employment, and be it further
Resolved, that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Richard F. Reaume, Jr., to the Detroit Fire Department, and to the Posts of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and the American Legion in which he belongs, as a visual token of the esteem of his fellow citizens.
