Miss United States III's hull is divided into shallow steps composed of several vee-shaped planing surfaces designed to lift the power boat to its maximum planing position. The 21-foot-long propeller shafts are made of fatigue-proof steel. Miss United States III was built as a high speed laboratory to test advanced design marine products."
