Print. Black and white photographic print of a window display for the Housewares Exposition at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Featured in the display is a Universal Select-A-Range, which includes a stovetop and oven as well as storage components. A countertop, display shelves, and stools for seating are also visible. Dishes for lunch, including bottles of Vernors ginger ale have been placed atop the counter; also two pots are on top of the range. Signage atop the oven reads, "Universal introduces the new Select-A-Range with the convenience level oven which can be set to the individual homemaker enabling her to use this oven without bending or stooping. It is made of these basic interchangeable units, oven, surface cooking unit, and roomy storage drawer, each can be purchased separately." Affixed to the rear of the display are five different circular drawings of possible kitchen styles featuring the Select-A-Range; also, a model of the planet Saturn features two circular pieces which read, "Past; Trends." Around the interior planet signage reads, "Your Homemaking World." A house is affixed to the center of the planet. Signage in the central foreground reads, "Your Homemaking World, Past…Present…Future, Hudson's 17th Housewares Exposition, January 16 through 28….Start touring anywhere and see all the exciting exhibits on the 'block big' 10th Floor."
