One is possibly Warren Avis, its driver. "Rassey Engineering, Cadillac + Goethe (on Goethe) WA 1-5171, Louie," is handwritten on the verso. A note that accompanied the photo when it was previously housed inside an album read, "U-49 MISS FROSTIE, Warren Avis, ex-NOTRE DAME, later GALE I."
