Print. Black and white photographic print of the Cavalcade of Fashion window display at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store commemorating the 250th anniversary of the city of Detroit and Hudson's 70th year of business. Four female mannequins stand around a small table and dressed in period clothing from 1925 and 1926. An image of the Pontchartrain Hotel and Cadillac Square is featured behind the mannequins. Signage in the foreground reads, "Cavalcade of Fashion Through 2580 Years. The famous Pontchartrain Hotel was the social center of life in Detroit, in the early '20s. It was the beginning of the 'flapper' era and women's fashions took on a new slender line. Embroidery was still very much in evidence in the days of the old Pontchartrain... the famous meeting-place of the financial magnates of that time." the date, and photographic sequence numbers are printed on the bottom of the recto, "7-10-51; 25243-13x."
