Print. Black and white photographic print of the Cavalcade of Fashion window display at The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store commemorating the 250th anniversary of the city of Detroit and Hudson's 70th year of business. Three female mannequins and a young boy mannequin are dressed in period clothing circa 1893. A drawing of an elevated view of the city can be seen in the background. Signage in the central foreground reads, "Cavalcade of Fashion Through 250 Years, Detroit's City Hall afforded a fine viewpoint of the busy city. Visitors made it a point to 'take in the view' and Detroiters were proud of their town. As before, fashions were exciting and luxurious. Expensive laves, ostrich plumes, pearl handbags and plush trims were important dress decisions." The date and photographic sequence number are printed on the bottom of the recto, "7-10-51; 25243-2x."
