Print. Black and white photographic print of a window display at the J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. Displayed in the window is a portrait of General William Knudsen, adjacent to the portrait is a poem, "Our Three Star Bill" written by Edgar A Guest and reads, "Three little stars on his shoulders square, And the finest coat which a man can wear! Three little stars, yet dearer far, Than the glittering medals of monarchs are. Three little stars, which will ever be, The cherished gift of Democracy! A nation's gift for long service true, And for doing all that a man can do. A nation's gift for the world to see, For being all that a man can be. Three little stars on his shoulders square, And the finest coat which a man can wear." Neighboring in the portrait and poem is an American flag and a sculpture of an eagle. Signage in the foreground of the window reads, "Buy U.S. War Savings Bonds." The date and photographic sequence number are printed on the bottom of the recto, "10-14-42; 18702."
