Monochromatic glass-plate negative from the studio of Louis James Pesha depicting the port side of the River Transit Company freighter MAINE, under steam with a deck-load of coal. Two men in hats stand outside of the pilot house, while a man on the main deck, and two more seated above on the aftcastle railing look toward the stern of the ship. A line extends off frame from the stern. A tree-lined shoreline is visible in the background. The non-archival envelope which previously housed the plate included the following hand-written details:
