Monochromatic glass-plate negative from the studio of Louis James Pesha depicting the starboard side of the North Western Transportation Company freighter S.R. KIRBY, under steam. A group of men are gathered along the starboard side of the main deck, where a ladder has been lowered to two figures in a rowboat. A tree-lined shoreline is visible in the background. The non-archival envelope which previously housed the plate included the following hand-written details:
