Black and white negative of 225 cubic inch hydroplanes lined up at the seawall before the start of a heat. Limited class heats were run between heats of the unlimited hydroplanes during the Silver Cup Races of the late 1940s and early 1950s. The Berman Apartments, the Detroit Towers, a building under construction to the east of Detroit Towers, and the Whittier Hotel stand along the riverfront in the background.
