Titles and Honors
The National Sculpture Society's Medal of Honor, in recognition of his distinguished body of works in the United States and Europe.
Received the Gold Fine Arts Medal of the American Institute of Architects, Gold Medal of Honor of the Archietectural League of New York, Gold Medal of Honor from the Michigan Academy of Science, Arts and Letters, and the Henry Hering Medal from the National Sculpture Society.
In 1966, he was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award of the Michigan Association of the Professions.
Education
Attended John Huntington Polytechnic Institute in Cleveland, Ohio.
Graduated from the Cleveland School of Art in 1930
Studied with the Swedish sculptor Carl Milles in Scandinavia
Notes
1942--Volunteered for the U.S. armed services and was assigned to the Army Corps of Engineers in Arizona.
1944--Served with the Intelligence Section of the Twentieth Bombing Squad in the India-Burma Theatre.
1945--Awarded rank of lieutenant colonel and discharged honorably from the service.
Occupation
Joined the staff off Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1932
Enlisted in the Air Force 1942-1945 and discharged honorably as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Served as Royal Danish Consul for Michigan from 1965-1995.
Worked in his Royal Oak and Bloomfield Hills Michigan studios until his death in 1998.
Publications
The Majestic Gazelle, is at the Barbour Memorial Fountain, Belle Isle. Spirit of Detroit, in downtown Detroit is one of Fredericks' best-known works.
