Receiver, Global Positioning
One "NAV 5000D" global positioning receiver made by Magellan Systems Corporation. The battery-operated handheld receiver was designed for marine use and has a white plastic watertight body that floats. It has been reinforced with black rubber at the upper and lower ends and around the display screen. The front surface of the receiver has a small display screen at the top, various control keys at the center and an alphanumeric keypad at the bottom. An antenna is contained in a short, square-shaped tube that is located at the upper left side of the receiver. The tube is attached to the receiver body at one end and can be rotated upward. A cable port connection is located beneath a black rubber covering on the center right side of the receiver. The back of the receiver has a white adhesive label with black printed text that reads "Magellan GPS NAV 5000D," and shows the serial number, "1A 020682." An adjacent adhesive label has black printed text which gives basic start-up and operating instructions.
