One commemorative medal to celebrate the boxing matches between Joe Louis and Max Schmeling in 1936 and 1938. The medal is made of an oval-shaped sheet of zinc that has been stamped with images of the heads of the two boxers. Small raised text shows the name beneath each image. The images appear to depict older, middle-aged men so the medal may have commemorated a 40th anniversary of the first match. The medal has a decorative border, a brass-colored finish, and a narrow slot at the top for a 1-inch wide ribbon. No manufacturer's name or marks are visible.
