Jacket

One ship captain's uniform jacket worn by Morgan L. Howell. The double-breasted, ventless jacket is made of dark navy wool. Exterior details include upturned lapels, side pockets without flaps, and a left breast pocket. Also, there is a short zippered opening just above the left side pocket which provided access to a pocket watch. The jacket has six brass buttons at the front which have an anchor design. Each sleeve has four gold-colored fabric stripes at the cuff to signify the rank of captain. Also, an embroidered anchor design is located above the top stripe on each cuff. The jacket interior is fully lined with dark blue acetate. An interior right breast pocket has a fabric label that shows "A. G. Meier & Co." Also on the interior, there is a small pocket located on the left side just below the zippered opening.
