Hat

One peaked hat worn by a marine deck officer. The hat has a white cloth top, a black headband with a gold-colored strap across the front, and a black vinyl visor. The strap ends are attached at brass buttons that are located on the left and right sides of the hat. The front of the hat has a decorative emblem that shows the flag of the Ford Motor Company steamship fleet. A clear plastic label on the inside top of the hat shows "Bancroft Military Caps - Makers of Fine Caps for Over 50 Years, Framingham, Massachusetts." An adjacent identification typewritten and handwritten label shows "This Bancroft Cap belongs to: Elmer V. Dunn, 1st Mate, Fit Out, 1973, S.S. William Clay Ford, 1974."
