The Undiscovered Fisherman

Original editorial cartoon art by Detroit News cartoonist Burt Thomas. The cartoon shows a fisherman labeled "BOB / OAKMAN" holding up a small fish labeled "MAYOR." There is a speech bubble above the head of the fisherman that reads "I KNOW THERE / ARE BIG ONES / IN THERE-- / I'VE SEEN THEM." He is standing in front of a body of water with large fish splashing around. In the center is text that reads "DETROIT / CITIZENSHIP." There is a fishing basket and two drawers of lures by the fisherman's feet. There is text below the comic "THE UNDISCOURAGED FISHERMAN." The piece is in ink with pencil underdrawing visible. The verso is white.
