Box, Dresser
One hand carved teak wood box. The rectangular box has dovetailed sides with flat top and bottom panels that have been nailed to the sides. Small feet have also been nailed to the bottom panel at all four corners. It has a hinged lid that is held in places with two brass hinges on the back edge. The lid has an internal folding support on the left side. The front of the lid has a decorative brass clasp. The carving style appears to be Oriental, but the scenes on the box top and sides depict forest scenes, oak leaves, and mountain peaks that could be Asian or North American. Two persons are shown in the carved scenes and one appears to be wearing a buckskin jacket with a fringed collar and is seated in a canoe. No names or manufacturer's marks are shown.
