U-Matic
Partners Kirk Gibson Save #4 0104
U-Matic tape containing a public service announcement for the Detroit Recreation Department Camp Scholarship Fund featuring Detroit Tigers player Kirk Gibson, followed by a Detroit Recreation Department public service announcement to recruit volunteers featuring cyclist Sheila Young-Ochowicz, then several shots of four motorized Christmas themed figures.
Both camp scholarship spots are introduced by title cards; the first is called "Fresh Air," and the second is "Camping Is." Both feature Kirk Gibson speaking to the camera outside on a windy day about the program and his childhood experiences with camp. Both spots end with the address to mail donations to for a Camp Scholarship Fund.
The Recreation Department volunteer spot is the same as contained on tape 2015.008.003. It features Young-Ochowicz urging the viewer to volunteer with the Detroit Recreation Department, over shots of her riding her bicycle on the Dorais Velodrome, children playing on the Belle Isle Playscape's tire swing and wavy slide, a family walking in Belle Isle.
After a roughly two minutes of blank space on the tape, the tape ends with two brief silent shots of four mechanized figures presumably from a holiday display. The figures include an elf sawing a large candy cane, a seated girl, an elf dancing with a snowball, and another elf balancing a hand truck. In the second shot, a man appears to adjust the figure.
The video is on a UCA-5 U-Matic tape, with "Partners, Kirk Gibson, Save" handwritten on the top beside an adhesive note marked "#4." "0104" is handwritten on a loose piece of masking tape which was formerly adhered to the side of the tape. The tape is housed in a black U-Matic case, with an empty label window.
