Abstract of Title,
Lot 61 and the West 1 Foot of the South 80 Feet of Lot 62
of the Subdivision of the L. Beaubien Farm

Abstract of Title prepared by the Burton Abstract and Title Company concerning "Lot 61 and the West 1 Foot of the South 80 Feet of Lot 62 of the Subdivision of the L. Beaubien Farm." Both lots are 53 feet wide x 100 feet deep and are located on Jefferson Avenue just east of Beaubien Street. The document package consists of approximately 100 pages of typewritten text, handwritten text, and printed forms which trace the chain of land ownership from Antoine Beaubien who registered a claim at the Land Office in Detroit in 1807. The abstract continues to follow the chain of ownership to Lambert Beaubien and to various other persons in the 1800's and mid 1900's. It appears that the Wayburn Investment Company and Equitable Trust Company owned the land in the 1930's and the land was acquired by the City of Detroit in 1940 or 1941 due to unpaid taxes. The pages are bound in a dark blue/black hardcover binder that has a green ribbon on the left side. A separate, 8-page, handwritten abstract of title is located inside the back cover of the binder.
