Printed on verso: The Champion and Tow. This lithograph, from a painting by Seth Arca Whipple, is one of the most widely circulated pieces of art ever produced. It depicts the Tug Champion pulling a tow of eight schooners through the Detroit River, the heaviest such tow on record. The Champion was built at Detroit in 1868.
