One postcard of the excursion steamship, "FRANK E. KIRBY." A color photographic image of a painting shows a port side view of the sidewheel steamship which is underway in fair weather on a lake. Small black printed text on the verso reads "The Frank E. Kirby - From a painting by Seth Arca Whipple in the collection of the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. The Frank E. Kirby was built in Wyandotte, Michigan, in 1890 and was named for the famous naval architect who designed a majority of the well known lake sidewheel vessels. Capable of 21 miles an hour, she was known as the 'Flyer of the Lakes'."
